Does your child enjoy art or perhaps want to create beautiful digital cards, posters, slides or videos for their school projects? Now they can make all of these fascinating projects with Canva - a powerful and trendy graphic design platform with a simple interface (and creating an account is free)! Furthermore, we will introduce them to basics of the AI art for photo editing, turning their imagination into imagines, videos, and so much more.
Unit 1 of this course explores examples of great graphic design and video storytelling. Your child will learn to use the intuitive drag-and-drop tool in Canva to create their own designs, and share their creations with friends or teachers easily online. You will be amazed to see how creative your child can be with this fun digital design tool!
Unit 2 incorporates AI elements to create even more beautiful designs. We will use state of the art kids friendly AI art tools to create imaginary places, cool game characters, concert or sports posters, cinematic movie clips, cars of the future, story book illustrations - anything your child can dream up, they can create!
For younger students in grades 2-4, try our Budding Digital Artist class to get creative with a variety of digital art forms such as stop-motion movies and optical illusions.
- Part 1 - Canva for Kids: Design & Video Editing
This class will walk through the basics of the free digital design tool Canva. Your child will learn about how to upload or search pictures and elements in Canva, and explore a wide range of fonts, sizes, and effects, before learning how to drag and drop design elements and animate them. Then we will discuss what makes a great story by showcasing various types of graphic design and videos. Your child will use these intuitive design features in Canva to create their own flyers, cards, posters, and videos of the topics they are passionate about. By the end of the class, your child will have their own design portfolio in Canva that can be easily uploaded to social media or shared with friends!
- Part 2 - Imagine and Create Design and Videos with AI
Students will delve into the mesmerizing world of AI, exploring state of art tools such as Adobe Firefly, Canva, DALL·E-3 by OpenAI, and Runway ML. From abstract compositions to vibrant illustrations, each session will empower your child to experiment with diverse styles and subjects. Combined with their part 1 Canva skills, AI art will help students polish images, add creative touches, generate unique art elements, and expand their capabilities significantly.
